But what is a Vinho Verde?
Vinho Verde is not a grape variety, it is a DOC for the production of wine. The name means "green wine," but translates as "young wine", with wine being released three to six months after the grapes are harvested.
Quinta do Cruzeiro is hand craft. A hand craft wine means that it has a small production per year to ensure each grape is individually selected by hand and its made with care and according to a centuries-old family traditions .
Grape varieties: Loureiro, Arinto and Trajadura
Vinification: Manual harvest in 50 liter boxes (approx. 20kg). Pressing of stalked / whole grapes, natural clarification at 10ºC.
Fermentation with strict temperature control. Stage with fine lees until the batch is formed. Smooth filtration and cold stabilization before bottling.
Color: citrus green
Aroma: fresh and delicate aroma with hints of tropical fruits and a mineral background.
Palate: soft texture, balanced acidity, presence of fruit in the mouth. Long and elegant finish. Complex and harmonious.
Consumption: Ideal as an aperitif or to accompany grilled fish and cooked seafood. It should be served at a temperature of 8 to 10ºC.
Aging potential: If well stored, consume until the end of 2024.
